Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Programs

We provide outpatient substance abuse treatment for persons who want to become free of substance use.  All individuals seeking admission into treatment are required to undergo a complete screening and substance abuse assessment. The results of the assessment process dictates the level of care and services needed and serves as the basis for developing the individual's treatment plan.

Fees for services are on based on a sliding income scale. Fees for indigent individuals who are residents of the state of Missouri are underwritten by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

We have services available in Kansas City, Independence and Liberty.

Three levels of care are available. Clients are assigned a primary counselor who provides assistance throughout all phases.

Comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatmentand Rehabilitation (CSTAR) consists of three levels:

Level I Day Treatment - Offers 25 hours of weekly therapeutic activities. Level I focuses on drug addiction/abuse and auxiliary services as needed but without the residential support. This program assists those who have stable living arrangements without disruption to their home situation. Clients will develop a transition plan prior to changing to Level II services.  (Available in Kansas City and Liberty.)

Level II – This is a less restrictive phase in which clients live and work within the community and attend treatment ten hours a week (including one individual session). Both day and evening groups are provided. (Available at all sites.)

Level III – Community Support phase including group sessions three hours a week and an individual session once a month. (Available at all sites.)

The length of participation in each level of treatment depends on individual needs. All clients are assisted in seeking continued treatment, oriented to Recovery Support and Twelve Step meetings, and are encouraged to engage in aftercare programming following treatment.

The counseling staff are either licensed, degreed or credentialed through the Missouri Substance Abuse Professional Credentialing Board as Qualified or Associate Substance Abuse Counselors.

Deaf/hearing impaired clients can be served through KCCC's cooperation with local interpreting agencies.

Northland Community Center receives funding from Clay-Platte-Ray Mental Health Levy Board of Trustees.
